Report on the Public Lecture "Health is the Greatest Happiness! Hopes for Stem Cell Therapy" held on Sunday, March 3th

On Sunday, March 2025, 3, we held a public lecture entitled "Trends in Regenerative Medicine! Stem Cell Therapy Becoming More Accessible" at Tokyo Midtown (Akasaka, Minato Ward).

In this first lecture,"Health is the greatest happiness! Hopes for stem cell therapy"Three sessions were held under the theme of "Regenerative Medicine," in which specialists gave easy-to-understand explanations of the cutting edge of regenerative medicine.

In Session 3, Dr. Junichi Taguchi, Director of Tokyo Midtown Clinic, took the stage to speak about "From arteriosclerosis to frailty prevention: Aiming for a youthful, healthy longevity of the brain and body."

In a survey of participants, over 8% rated themselves highly satisfied, with many stating that "evidence and treatment effectiveness" were the most important factors.

Introduction of the course contents

Session 1: What are stem cells? Explaining their characteristics!
Dr. Keita Inoue (CEO, CPC Co., Ltd.)

Using images of cells, the lecture explained what stem cells are, their types, their functions in the body, and their possible applications in treatment. The lecture also introduced the difference between pluripotent stem cells and adult stem cells, as well as the latest findings on aging and inflammation, explaining that stem cell therapy is expected to suppress inflammatory aging. The lecture deepened the basic understanding of stem cells.

Session 2: The effect of stem cell therapy on knee, shoulder, and other pain
Dr. Tomohiro Terao (Director of Ochanomizu Cell Clinic)

The actual situation of stem cell therapy in the field of orthopedics was explained, focusing on examples of knee joints. It was explained that because the number of cells in the joint is small and the self-repairing ability is weak, it is expected that administering stem cells will increase the repair ability and improve the condition of the joint. It was also mentioned that the treatment effect differs depending on the degree of deformity, and that it is important to combine it with appropriate rehabilitation.

Session 3: From arteriosclerosis to preventing frailty - Aiming for a youthful, healthy longevity of the brain and body
Dr. Junichi Taguchi (Director of Tokyo Midtown Clinic)

As the aging population continues to grow, the talk looked at how to prepare for the challenges that come with aging, such as "frailty (decreased physical function and social connections)" and "dementia," from various perspectives. In addition, examples of the application of blood purification therapy (apheresis) and stem cell therapy as treatments to slow the progression of arteriosclerosis were presented, suggesting an integrated approach of the latest preventive medicine and regenerative medicine.

Our facility will continue to conduct research and provide information so that everyone can have correct knowledge about treatment and choose the treatment that best suits their condition.

The next course is scheduled to be held around June 2025. We will provide further information on this website as soon as the details are decided.

Thank you to everyone who participated.
